This special practice was our last session of the summer at Hidden Falls. During the summer, many members of the larger community join us outside in the park. --ed
When the van with a dozen mentally handicapped folks
arrived on the shore of the Mississippi
to join the Becketwood Tai Chi group,
our group continued.
Mindful movement continued,
Love of all and meditation continued,
Vanjie and Carol continued leading
after saying, "Welcome!" to the late-comers.
Together we joined body and soul
with silent, engaged movements,
with reach, stretch, sway, shift,
-in community, in diversity-
grounded, yet mystical,
present, but transported,
imperfect and accepted.
We breathed in peace and care and love,
Breathed out differences, distractions, discrimination.
Breathed in diverse community,
And shed tears for equality.
