I am the first sign of Spring
in Marnie’s garden.
She planted me many years ago.
Look for me.
I stand proudly in the front row.
You will know me by my feathery foliage
and color of Royal Purple.
Marauding grass plants
Slipped inside of me, planning to kill me off
But a garden steward
fought for me in a 2-hour battle
and here I am.
So say hello.
“Hello” to the garden steward who saved the flower! Thanks for pointing it out, I’ll look for it today.
Yea for thinking of the flowers!
Oh!! so lovely, Ingrid,…just like you, lover of beauty!
Beautiful! And well worth the battle, Ingrid. Thank you.
That is such a lovey flower that I couldn’t name…now I know. Thanks.
Just lovely, Ingrid! Both the flower and the poem. And nice to remember Marnie, one of my Mom’s best friends at Becketwood.
