Experience active 55+ living in our urban "countryside"
Becketwood is the Twin Cities' only cooperative community with an in-town location that brings 12 acres of gardens and woodlands into the heart of the city. Becketwood’s unparalleled site on the bluffs of the Mississippi is within easy reach of the Twin Cities’ rich urban amenities, making it the perfect choice for active independent senior living. The River Parkway, with its miles of scenic pathways, adjoins our property. Minnehaha Falls and Park are just a short walk away.
Shopping is nearby. Becketwood has easy access to freeways and main thoroughfares. Or, you can leave the car at home and hop the Metro Transit bus at our back door. It connects with the Blue Line Light Rail Transit station. From there, it’s a quick ride downtown or to the Airport and Mall of America (and soon downtown St. Paul!)
Stay Connected
As a Becketwood Member, you get high-speed internet and a cable package with more than 80 channels at no extra charge. Your router gives you Wi-Fi in your own unit.
Participate and volunteer in the wider community
Many of us are involved in the broader Twin Cities community, working full or part time, volunteering at Habitat for Humanity, several schools, Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, Meals on Wheels, various houses of worship and other organizations.
Stay fit and have fun
Enjoying an active independent lifestyle is easy to do at Becketwood. During warmer months, our bicycle club explores the miles of off-road bike trails that adjoin the Becketwood property. Our Tai Chi group moves outdoors to St. Paul’s Hidden Falls Park and our avid Twins fans ride the Becketwood bus to Target Field.
Our fitness center is fully equipped.
Stimulate your mind and enjoy local culture
All year long, our Becketwood bus is available for groups that enjoy Metropolitan Opera simulcasts, Minneapolis Institute of Arts, St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, Minnesota Orchestra and the Guthrie Theater.
Becketwood is a site for the University’s Osher Life Long Learning Institute (OLLI). We sponsor our own Great Decisions series and a Socrates discussion group. Our Program Committee brings some of the Twin Cities’ most prominent artists, musicians and lecturers to our community.
Forge friendships, and get involved in your co-op community
Becketwood is like a close-knit neighborhood, where we can develop warm, supportive friendships. We establish bonds with the other Members by taking an active role in the committees and teams that keep our cooperative functioning smoothly.
This sets us apart from many other multi-unit developments where residents have few opportunities for face-to-face contacts with people who may live just down the hall. And our broad range of activities--from bridge games to biking to taking Twins baseball excursions—means that our Members can connect with Becketwood neighbors who share their interests.
Live your commitment to forward-thinking and sustainability
Becketwood has a five-year plan designed to enhance our community for a new generation of co-op Members. This includes a series of action steps to guide Becketwood into environmental sustainability. Some projects include reducing energy consumption by upgrading lighting and mechanical systems, increased use of environmentally friendly products and materials, composting and promoting bio-diversity.
Becketwood's amenities, unbeatable location and vibrant co-op community combine to make it an unmatched 55 plus community in Minneapolis. You are invited to take a tour and join our Waiting List of potential Members.
